hello

Quite a bit has happened since we last spoke, my friends. On November !st my eldest sister Nina got married to her girlfriend Paula of five or six years. I walked Nina down the aisle and "gave her away" (to goodwill). My father, whom i haven't seen in 12 years, was in attendance. About a year or two ago i decided to contact him and spark up communication after being upset with him for the past however many years. i figured life is too short to remain angry. We began texting and emailing, and sending messages via facebook and what not. Although, i never actually spoke to him on the phone. Seeing him was far less awkward than i was expecting and I'm grateful for that. He and I met for breakfast at a restaurant nearby and made small talk and caught up and the like. From there we travelled in our separate cars to San Jose to Paula's mom's house where the wedding was to be held. The weather was god awful, the ride to san jose involved spurts of torrential rain and water being splashed against my windshield due to the cars in front of me on the freeway. We got to the house and the outside canopies that we had set up a few days previously were soaked, the chairs hadn't been set up yet, therefor they too were soaked. So naturally, the only thing i could say was "It's like raiiiiiiiiin on your wedding day..." to which i was met with looks of annoyance. haha. The wedding ended up being in the garage with everyone crowded about. It was supposed to be at like 1pm or something, Nina didn't show up to the house until about 2. My dad ended up leaving about a half hour after the ceremony due to his Parkinson's acting up. He asked if i would go to dinner with him that evening, i agreed and then invited nina and paula as well. I drove home in the rain and took a nap when i got there. About 7pm that night i picked up nina and paula and drove to black angus and met with my dad. The dinner was really nice, we all made conversation and the food wasn't half bad either. Dad hopes to make the visiting more frequent and plans on trying it at least once a year.

In other news, a few months ago i quit working at Denevi's due to the business practices and personalities of the boss Mike Denevi, the film transfer place. I spent the month or two after looking for work and finally landed an interview for a job at target making $8 which is a dollar less than i was making at Denevi's. While i was waiting for Target to call me and tell me my start date i get a call from Frank Denevi, Mike's father. He said "Come in today at five. i have a job for you." So i go in and Frank explains that he needs a shit ton of photos scanned and eventually made into calendars and books. He asked me how much i was making currently to which i said "ten something" so he said "I'll pay you more to do my job. How's 11?" i said that was fine. So basically i go in and scan box after box of photo albums and after i have a folder of 200-250 images scanned i create a Contact sheet of thumbnails of said images and print them out and give them to frank. Thus far I've scanned roughly 5000+ images. I figure by the end of this I'm going to know more about the Denevi family than i ever wanted to. I even saw a pic of Franks wife hugging a toilet back in the 60's. haha.

Target is alright it's your run of the mill retail experience. We have these pretty nifty pda's that allow us to search for shit and scan stuff. so thats pretty cool. We also get walkies so that we can ask other team members stuff and find out info and all that. so in that respect it's pretty good.

This october my Grandpa turned 90. which is quite the feat to behold if i do say so myself. I can't imagine being able to say that I've seen almost a century's worth of the world. He's lived in Cairo, Tripoli, Lybia, the Azores, England, France, Texas, California and all manner of other states. My aunt did a slideshow of a bunch of pics of my grandpa here's a few of em.

My grandma who is 82 at the present time is doing alright. She's on all sorts of medication these days and her memory isn't what it once was. So i made a lil weekly chart that she marks off when she's taken her morning meds, shots, afternoon meds , and night time meds. that way she doesn't forget, or accidentally give herself more than she needs.

today at dinner my grandpa brought up Prop 8. he said something like "looks like those people are still cryin' about that prop 8" and i said "yes, as they should." to which we got into a discussion with him trying to convince me that the passage of prop 8 was not a violation of civil rights and how if god wanted it to be that way, he would've made it so from the start. I do realize however that as a 90 year old man who is very religious its hard to see shades of gray. It's just hard to understand how a man so cultured can have such a shallow viewpoint. Anyway, he was like "so here's my question: say we let all these people get married to the same sex. then a hundred years down the line who's gonna be left to make more children?" i face palmed a second and i said "grandpa being gay isnt a disease, just because someone is gay doesnt mean theyll turn everyone gay" and he said "well there was already that problem with the AIDS. I explained that straight people get AIDS too. But I'm realizing more and more that you can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink. It's kinda sad. but yeah. thats what's been goin on thus far with me.

how're you?
